Description
Product SKU: TSS-LX3
Full AHRS/IMU/VRU performance in 0.9 grams
Where other sensors only provide raw data the 3-Space™ LX3 is a complete high performance motion processing system. At 16mm x 15mm x 1.7mm and 0.9 grams, it is a complete Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) / Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) /Vertical Reference Unit (VRU) that outputs fused, calibrated orientation directly, so your design gets precision attitude and heading without writing or tuning a sensor fusion stack.
The LX3 combines a triaxial gyroscope, accelerometer, and magnetometer with patented onboard processing and quaternion-based filtering. Fused orientation runs at up to 2000Hz, fast enough for closed-loop stabilization, robotics control, and real-time immersive simulation.
Flexible power control lets you scale the sensor to the moment: low power when that matters most, full performance when your application demands it.
Precision you can configure
Choose between Extended Kalman Filtering and our proprietary QGRAD3™ filter, which delivers fused orientation with lower latency and lower computational overhead. A dynamic sensor confidence algorithm maintains accuracy across changing operating conditions, and the gradient descent calibration process compensates for sensor error at high update rates. Tunable filtering, oversampling, and orientation error correction let you trade responsiveness against smoothness for your application.
The integrated World Magnetic Model (WMM) turns magnetometer readings into headings you can actually navigate by: simple commands return heading and bearing referenced to true north, magnetic north, or grid north, with declination handled onboard instead of in your application code.
Orientation is available in absolute or relative terms, in every format your application expects: quaternion, Euler angles, rotation matrix, axis angle, and two-vector.
This makes the 3-Space™ LX3 especially well suited to UAV, UGV, USV, and other navigation applications.
Built for your board, documented for your team
Castellated SMT edge pads support secure surface mounting with optional through-hole mounting. Communication options include SPI, I2C, USB 2.0, and asynchronous serial, with USB appearing as a virtual COM port. The v3 settings interface makes configuration and deployment simple. Every sensor function is accessible through our well-documented open protocol, in human-readable ASCII or fast machine-readable binary, with Python and C APIs and the free 3-Space™ Sensor Suite application for rapid evaluation.
For getting started with zero effort, no board design and no soldering use our LX Evaluation Kit.
A platform that keeps improving
The LX3 packages its sensing hardware behind a single high-performance SMT device, so firmware updates can deliver new features and performance improvements to sensors already in the field. Firmware updates are free for the life of the product.
